peak district Landscapes by Kristan Baggaley |
|
|
Born in Sheffield, Kristan regularly visits the Peak District for walks and inspiration and has an intimate knowledge of the edges and moorlands throughout the changing seasons. Influenced by Turner and Girtin, his paintings reveal the atmosphere and space of the landscape in it's various moods. His mixed media paintings are oil paint mixed with sand and gritstone and have a sculptured texture that extenuates the depth and scale of each painting. |

In his work over the last
ten years Kristan has attempted to find
an individual expression between figurative and abstract painting, which
is revealed in each painting by the depth of colours expressing the
shape, and nature of each location. The paintings are not simply
about the features in the landscape but more about the colour, and its
relationship with the surroundings and with the weather and light. |
