Richard
Clare paints almost exclusively the Northern landscape of England, where he
has been walking and sketching for many years.
Richard interprets rather than copies the landscape
preferring to use imagination and emotional recollection.
This interpretation includes his use of vibrant colour - even
though he is colour blind! Back
in his studio in Delph he produces his paintings using acrylics and
oils, applied predominantly with painting knives, to create spontaneity
and movement in his works. In
2001 he was a prize winner in the prestigious “Laing National
Landscape and Seascape Competition” and has been a recent finalist in
“International Artist Magazine”.
