I try to illustrate the form and texture of the landscape through careful and tight composition that isolates the main object of the image from its environment.  The result can  be anything from a very simple & highly graphic image to one that is immensely detailed and textured throughout.  I work in colour, but the nature of the images and the light that I seek out renders the majority of my images almost monochromatic with just subtle colouring to enhance the mood.  Capture is 100% digital, leaving me free to capture the many subtle variations in light that can occur over very short periods without the restrictions, or cost, of film.  I print all of my own images with very little manipulation post-capture.  The only manipulation I tend to use is equivalent to that which would be carried out in the traditional darkroom.  Printing is with pigment inks on high quality art papers, ensuring the very best archival qualities.  The choice of paper each image is printed on is as integral and vital to the finished product as any other part of the process.  Consequently much time can be spent choosing exactly the right paper for each individual print or series of prints.  I prefer to produce work in series rather than as one-off individual images, the better to convey the atmosphere and emotion of the occasion.

I left a desk-based job in June 2008 to pursue my love of photography full time.  To help with this I moved from West Sussex to the Peak
District and have found the landscape and the light to be truly inspirational.  The move was initially for a trial period to see how my wife and I got on 'up north'.  After just a few short months there is no doubt that this move will be permanent.
