The watercolours are exquisite still life and floral subjects. The high standard of the artists' training is reflected in the consistent quality of their delicate painting, often demonstrating an attention to detail rarely seen in the West.

Their study at the Academy takes eight years to complete and pays particular attention to drawing skills, working with only a pencil for at least two hours per day.  Such diligence allows them to develop techniques to paint in detail fragile leaves, droplets of water and clear glass vases.  The still life compositions are distinctive and use fruits such as pomegranates, pears, redcurrants and hazelnuts with glass jars, shells and keys.
